Nigerian Chess Players starts on a bright note at African Individual tournament 2014

CM Kigigha Bomo  (2291) and  CM Fawole John Oyeyemi 2214 defeated   Anquandah Francis Eric 1952  of  Ghana  and  Botsoe Koffi (1566) of Togo respectively marking a bright start for the Nigerian players. there were major upsets in the tournament to signal the tough nature of the tournament. the most shocking result was the defeat of the Egyptian Grand master GM Adly Ahmed ( 2591) to FM Klaasen Calvin Jong rated 2180  a player  411 ELO rating points below him !! Chimthere Alfred Charles (2006) defeated IM Chumfwa Stanley 2356 (350 rating points difference) ,FM Phiri Richmond 2143 pulled a draw with  IM Cawdery Daniel 2430 while CM Abrantes Persson 1972 also drew with  IM Ameir Moheb (2316) this goes to show the level of unpredictability of African chess. giving an indication that this edition is going to be very interesting .
   in the Women category however the sole Nigerian female representative WCM Rabiu Olabisi lost to a higher rated WIM Solomons Anzel of south Africa.
In round two (pairings) the battle becomes tougher as CM Kigigha Bomo faces the Grand Master Slayer    FM Klaasen Calvin Jong  of South Africa  , CM Fawole John Oyeyemi is up against the 2370 rated Zambian International Master  Jere Daniel
