The African individuals 2014 Chess tournament enters its round 3 today with the Nigerian players still in good position .In ROUND TWO CM Kigigha Bomo of Nigeria played a drawn game with FM Klaasen Calvin Jong of South Africa a vert tricky opponent whose ability can not be judged from his rating of 2180 as he defeated the Egyptian Grand Master Adly Ahmed rated 2591 in round one so getting a draw with him is a fair result as the players are still warming themselves into the proper rhythm for the tournament. CM Fawole John however lost a winning position to IM Jere Daniels of Zambia in a keenly contested battle. the Nigerian players are in a very good mood to battle till the very end in this tournament. According to CM Bomo on his Facebook wall last night ' I'm in a good frame of mind going into this round... i just don't have to despise my opponent because he is not sleeping right
now...' I will love to get into winning spell... Just need to put a little bit of energy into play...yesterday my opponent was better of but decided to go for the three-fold....wouldn't get that from other opponents...'
CM Fawole John said 'While discussing my game with my Ghanian friend, he said: "Rethink every new position like its a new puzzle so u don't blunder"- Philip Elikem Ameku '
The ROUND THREE pairings are out and CM Bomo of Nigeria is facing another very tricky player FM Phiri Richmond of Zambia though a 2143 rated player he drew with IM Cawdery Daniel(2430) of South Africa in round one and defeated IM Ameir Moheb of Egypt in round two . CM Fawole John is up against an unrated Kamberipa William of Namibia and he is expected to win this encounter.
In The Female section , the sole representative from Nigeria WCM Rabiu Olabisi is having a slow start losing in round one and two but it is believed that the 2014 Zonal 4.4 Champion will get back to winning ways pretty soon and finish better than she started
