2015 AFRICAN INDIVIDUAL CHESS CHAMPIONSHIPS, EGYPT (INVITATION)

Dear Friends,

                                                   1. INVITATION
Under the auspices of the African Chess Confederation the Egyptian Chess Federation (ECF), is pleased to
invite all African Chess Federations affiliated to the World Chess Federation (FIDE) to participate in the 2015
African Individual Chess Championships.
The Championships will be held in Giza from May 1
st (arrival) until May 13
th 2015 (departure).
The event will comprise an Open Section and a Women’s Section
Each Section of the Championship will have THREE Time Control formats:-
 The Classic
 The Rapid

 The Blitz
2. PARTICIPATION
2.1 Players holding the title of GM, WGM or WIM have a personal right to enter the tournament.
2.2 Each National Federation can enter a maximum of THREE (3) players in each Section.
2.3 The host country shall have the right to enter FOUR (4) player s in each Section. In the event of the total
number of participants being an odd number; the host Federation shall have the right to add another player.
2.4 The African Chess Confederation President also has the right to nominate additional players.
2.5 Each National Federation is entitled to free board and lodging for one player in each section.
2.6 All entries must be registered with the Egyptian Chess Federation.
3. FIDE/ACC ENTRY FEES
3.1 All players are required to pay an entry fee of 70 € each.
3.2 Payment of entry fees must be made to the organizers at the time of registration. The organizers will issue

a receipt and forward this payment to the FIDE Treasurer.
4. APPLICATION AND REGISTRATION
4.1 Entry Forms must be completed by the National Federations and should be returned to the Organizing
Committee not later than 14th April 2015.
4.2 The complete registration form must include the surnames, first names, FIDE titles, FIDE ID number,
FIDE rating and total number of players and accompanying persons. The completed form must also include
the name and telephone numbers, fax numbers and e-mail addresses of the Chief of Delegation and of the
person in charge of the federation.
4.3 All travel expenses must be paid by the participants or their National Federations.
4.4 The organizers will provide transportation from Cairo International Airport to the hotel on May 1st and
back to the Airport on May 13
th
.
4.5 All players and accompanying persons must pay the Organizers a Registration Fee of 100 € when
registering upon their arrival. This payment is mandatory and confirms participation. Late entries will be
accepted till 20th April, 2015 with a penalty for late registration of 50 € for each player.
The Registration Fee entitles participants to the following:
‐ Bus transfer from airport to the official hotels and back
‐ Free drinks (coffee, tea, water) for all participants in the playing venue
-hiring of the playing hall
-Medical care
Entries shall be submitted to ECF in the official entry form appended.
4.6 Players will not be put on the pairing list until all required payments have been made. 
5. ACCOMMODATION AND PLAYING VENUE
5.1 The accommodation for players and officials will be at Santana Hotel (4 Stars) , 7 Ahmed Elmelehy
street at Dokki in Giza Egypt. The tournament shall also be played at the same Hotel
5.2 All participants (players, officials and accompanying persons) are required to lodge at Santana Hotel.
5.3 The cost of lodging for all players and accompanying persons shall be as follows:
a) In Twin rooms: € 40.00 per person per day, 3 meals included.
b) In single rooms: € 60.00 per person per day, 3 meals included.
c) In Triple rooms: € 35.00 per person per day, 3 meals included
N.B.: Early arrivals and late departures will be at the participants charge.
5.4 Each Federation is entitled to free board and lodging in a Twin Room for one player in each section.
5.5 All additional players (including nominated or those qualified by right) and accompanying persons are
required to meet the costs of their accommodation in line with 5.3

5.6 Hotel payments for players and accompanying persons can be made in cash upon arrival. In cases where
preference is to pay by bank transfer the required amounts should be transferred to the following account:

5.7 Delegations opting to make their hotel payments upon arrival in Egypt should ensure that all payments are
made in accordance with the indicated rates. All these payments should be in EURO (or US dollar equivalent)

7. SYSTEM AND RATE OF PLAY
a) The CLASSIC CHAMPIONSHIP format will be a SWISS System tournament played over 9 (NINE
ROUNDS) in accordance with FIDE Regulations. Rate of play will be 90 minutes for the first 40
moves followed by 30 minutes for the rest of the game with addition of 30 seconds per move from
move one for each player.
b) The RAPID CHAMPIONSHIP format will be a SWISS System tournament played over 9 (NINE
ROUNDS) in accordance with FIDE Regulations. Rate of play will be 15 minutes for the game with
addition of 10 seconds per move from move one for each player.
c) The BLITZ CHAMPIONSHIP format will be a SWISS System tournament played over 9 (NINE
ROUNDS) in accordance with FIDE Regulations. Rate of play will be 5 minutes for the game with
addition of 3 seconds per move from move one for each player.
d) The games will be played using DGT clocks; and the pairings will be published on www.chessresults.com
on the Egyptian (EGY) platform.
e) Swiss Manager will be used for the Championship, and players from the same Federation will not
be paired together in the last round.
f) Draw offers are not allowed before Black’s 30th move for games in the Classic format.
8. TIE BREAK
Should there be a tie for the medal winners and/or the qualifiers for the 2015 World Cup, these ties will be
resolved in the following order;
a) By the results between the players involved in the tie
b) Buchholz, the highest number wins;
c) Number of wins, the highest number wins;
d) Number of wins by black, the highest wins
e) The highest rating
There will be no tie break matches
9. WORLD CUP 2015 QUALIFICATION
The 2015 African Individual Championship is a qualification event for the 2015 FIDE World Chess Cup
(World Cup).
The top 2 placed players in the Open Section will qualify for the 2015 FIDE World Chess Cup to be held
in Baku, Azerbaijan from 10th September, 2015 to 4th October, 2015.
10. ADDITIONAL COMPETITION RULES
10.1. Important: in these championships the new regulation 6.6a of the FIDE Laws of chess will be used. Any
player who arrives at the chessboard after the start of the session shall lose the game.
10.2. Analyzing is not allowed in the playing hall
10.3. During the game the players are not allowed to go to the analyzing room or to the press room
10.4. Flash photography may be used only in the first five minutes of the playing session
10.5. Only the players and arbiters shall be allowed in the actual playing area, except with the express
permission of the Chief Arbiter.
10.6. Players are not allowed to enter the closed area of the top boards if they are not playing in that area
themselves
10.7. As long as the game is in progress a player may only talk to an arbiter or to his opponent as permitted by
the Laws of Chess.
10.8. All the players MUST read the Tournament Regulations and are obliged to abide by them.
10.9. The English text of these Tournament Regulations is the authentic version.
10.10. During play, all participants are forbidden to have a mobile phone in their possession.
11. ARBITERS AND APPEALS COMMITTEE
The Chief Arbiter will be appointed by the President of ACC.
The Appeals Committee will consist of 3 members and 2 reserves chosen from among the participating
delegations.

13. TITLE AWARDS
The winner of the Open Section will be awarded title of International Grand Master (GM) whilst
the winner of the Women’s Section will be awarded the title of Woman International Grand
Master (WGM).
Other titles will be awarded in accordance with FIDE Regulations.
Gold, Silver and Bronze medals will be awarded to the top three placed players respectively in each
section.
14. LOCAL CURRENCY
The local currency is the Egyptian Pound (L.E.), which currently stands at an Exchange Rate:
1 EUR = 8,5 L.E.
1 USD = 7,6 L.E
You are advised to change any foreign currency through official banks or at foreign exchange offices.
15. INFORMATION ABOUT VISA
Participants from countries requiring entry visas into Egypt may obtain them from respective Egyptian
Embassies. The host Federation will arrange for official invitations to facilitate applications for those countries
that need special invitations. Should there be any problems in obtaining entry visas the intending travelers
should immediately contact the ECF for assistance by email egyptian.chess.fed@gmail.com
It is advisable the issued invitation letter be carried by participants when crossing through the Egyptian border
area as this will help in case of any queries being raised.
16. CLIMATE
The tournament will be taking place during moderate weather in Egypt. The lodging and playing venue will
have excellent air-conditioning facilities.
17. MEDICAL CARE
During the tournament there will be Medical Services available in accordance with the FIDE Tournament
Regulations.
18. ELECTRICITY
The voltage in Egypt is 220 Volts.

Nigerian chess players shows total domination as they cruise into the FINAL round of 2015 Zone 4.4 Individual Chess Championships in Togo !!

   
 Round 8 which is the penultimate round of the 2015 Zone 4.4 Individual Chess Championships in Togo turned out to be the most crucial round for Nigerian chess plays on display at the event. International Master ADU Oladapo(Nigeria) defeated Fide Master DEGONDO Simplice Armel (Ivory Coast) in a dispute over the Neo Grunfeld defence on board one, CM KIGIGHA Bomo (Nigeria) dismissed  IM OLAPE Bunmi(Nigeria) in 16 moves on board two after tactical melee resulting from the English opening which the Nigerian chess Champion has perfected over the years and in what many termed as an upset CM UNWANA Eugene Ekpoikong(Nigeria) with the white pieces lost to young talent ANWULI Daniel (Nigeria) in a very entertaining tactics filled game on board three, CM FAWOLE John Oyeyemi(Nigeria) defeated IM ANQUANDAH Francis Eric of Ghana on board four ,OSUNFUYI Abimbola (Nigeria) beat CM KAMARA Ansumana while  ONOVUGHE Ochuko Emmanuel and Oyama Ekok both won their games to conclude a round eight filled with Nigerian victories.
    Round nine is potentially an anti climax as   IM ADU Oladapo (Nigeria) who is on 7/8 points and is ranked number one is up against LWEBUGA Ronald of serria Leone , CM KIGIGHA Bomo (Nigeria) is up against  EPHOEVI-GA Adama Mawulikplimi of Togo on board three, CM UNWANA Eugene Ekpoikong (Nigeria) is paired against FM DEGONDO Simplice Armel of Ivory coast who has been a dangerous opponent for Nigerian opponents.find below the Table of Pairings and results for round 8 and 9 .courtesy Chess-results server

In the Female section The Nigerian female national champion , COKER Omolabake continued in her winning ways while WCM RABIU Olabisi (Nigeria) defeated OFOWINO Toritsemuwa (Nigeria) in a crucial game which will determine which Nigerian lady comes second and third in a female section completely dominated by Nigeria . The Nigerian women are set to  Win the Ladies category taking the first, second and third position just like their male counterpart
