Nigeria gets its first Chess 'Arena' Grand Master(including a short interview )

I am pleased to announce that  ESAN OLAWALE VICTOR  (click his name to see his FIDE profile) a Nigerian Chess  has achieved the feat of  becoming the first ever Nigerian to earn the Arena Grand Master  AGM title of chess on the FIDE Online arena chess platform powered by Premium chess, it will be recalled that yours sincerely AKINSEYE AKINLEYE (Akinov) (click on Name to see FIDE Profile) was the first ever Arena international Master (AIM). AGM victor Esan has been' codedly' strong in OTB chess in Nigerian tournaments and will soon get an OTB rating with his next Rated tournament, he has defeated the likes of Dr Yinka Adesina AKA Mad Doctor/Gm slayer in chess combat over the board  The FIDE Online arena provides a means for chess players from all over the world to meet online and play chess , and the Online Rating is reflected on each players FIDE profile on the Official FIDE website, one can also earn Titles ranging from Arena Candidate Master, arena FIDE master , Arena International master and Arena Grand Master after playing up to 100 Games and maintaining different level of Online Rating, for more information check   http://arena.myfide.net/ . i am of the strong Belief that Nigeria which is a very strong chess playing West African country but yet to produce a Grand Master from over the board play (offline will soon produce her First Grand Master sooner than later. meanwhile another Nigerian Austin ha also gotten the Arena GM title  shortly after Victor got his title.

A BRIEF INTERVIEW WITH AGM VICTOR

Q- tell us a bit about you?
Answer - I'm Victor Esan by name. I started playing Chess since 2002, I have to buy food for my friend so that he can teach me, afterward I started growing. Most important I love challenges, and I love game of chess.

Q- what are the challenges you faced while playing online chess as a player based in Nigeria?
Answer - Challenges - 1st is internet connection problem. Well u are wining and connection goes off then you lose on time. 2. When u are playing rapid game some player can use computer to play you. Anyway it doesn't still matter because I learn from losing

Q- what do you think about the FIDE Arena Chess platform?

Answer- Fide Arena is a cool platform, you meet various Player all around the world. GM, IM, FM, WGM e.t.c. Also training are going on. The platform is not difficult to understand and you can  play excellently. Today I was playing with a GM and it was fun, my chess is getting stronger

Q- how do you feel being the first ever AGM from Nigeria?
Answer -Lol. AGM victor001200. Well it cool and interesting. Well Thank to FIDE for given people privilege to proof themselves. The world is going virtual and Fide is taking the advantage to showcase people. Well anyone can proof himself or herself online, if you desire it. You can get your title on board or online
Q- what other Advantages does one get from the FIDE online Arena?
Answer - Those that does not have FIDE ID, you can get your ID setup if you acquire any of the title online.
