Controversial shoe design : Ruggedman tells critics to go to hell !!

The Originality of the designer shoes released by Ruggedman’s clothing line , September line has recently been questioned and Ruggedman AKA Michael Ugochukwu Stephen has reacted by reportedly telling his critics to go to hell !!

A Website has recently reported that Ruggedman has repackaged and relaunched his clothing line September wear (T S W) with an array of shoes and accessories but accusssed Ruggedman of stealing the design.

A new York based Nigerian Lady using the Twitter handle @KingAqua05 has accused Ruggedman on Twitter social network on Friday September 21 , 2011 tweeting that Ruggedman had stolen the design of his newest collection from that of an upcoming designer, Natischa Harvey ‘s 2010 collection called “Fever shoe” .

@KingAqua05’s tweet read “I know Fever shoes are not super popular, but still come on !anh anh.He was not even subtle about it” He did not even change the colour and tweak the design a little”.

In a swift reaction in a phone conversation, Ruggedman maintains that the his designs are original and perfectly his own creation.

“Shoes may look alike, but may not be the same design. A creative mind has the tendency to create and design things that may look like what another creative mind may have created. A button may make the difference in the design of a shirt” he said

“The problem we face in the industry today is that, some people have made ‘pull him down’ a profession, never seeing anything good in what another man does. They never see anything constructive in what the next man does. All they want to do is to tear down the person”, Ruggeman said.

He insisted that his designs are not stolen saying “they were customized for me; I’ve been working with someone outside Nigeria and I’m allowed to customize with my name , i work hard at what I’m doing and I have no regrets venturing into this business. And if anyone doesn’t like , the fellow can go to hell because I don’t care what he or she feels about my business. In the next couple of months, I’m releasing my custom made wrist watches and may be, these busybodies will complain that the leather straps are copied”.

EFCC Arrests Former Governors, Gbenga Daniel, Akala And Doma

The Economic And Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has arrested former governors of Ogun, Oyo and Nasarawa states Gbenga Daniel, Adebayo Alao-Akala and Akwe Doma. the governors were picked up their respective homes in Lagos, Ibadan and Lafia, Thursday morning. Femi Babafemi ,EFCC spokes person said this morning that the former Governors are presently being interrogated on corruption allegations in Abuja FCT.

EFCC is said to be aiming at investigating about nine corrupt ex- Governors said to have embezzled billions of Naira withing their respective states.

Opinion

Nigeria has been turned to a place where thieves are chiefs and corruption which is the order of the day is still thriving in all tiers of Government ,and the average Nigerian is even mentally corrupt already. many just waiting for their own turn to loot the treasury and have a bite of the national cake. The news of EFCC making arrest should not really be a cause for celebration, the most important thing is JUSTICE must be seen to have been done at the end of the day by the common man, the ordinary man on the street should know that the law is not only against the poor but can deal effectively with the "Criminal rich" i know some will still start to rant about how others who are yet to be arrested stole too. we are going to hear things like " This is political , are they the only ones that stole"? Leave them alone !!

I sympathize with Nigeria, Does anybody know how the case against Dimeji Bankole went "down" with the EFCC ? from the picture above the well fed man had fun while it lasted , these three ex- Governors will soon line up heavily paid Senior Advocates of Nigeria to defend them if Charged to court eventually, of course they can afford the very expensive fees. lets wait and see the outcome of this too. SAME OLD STORY ??

Quote of the day .

“We need to regulate prostitution in the country so that if anyone wants to indulge in the trade, the person can be registered and issued with a licence. If we say we want to stop it, this will be difficult. It is done in other countries; Let us regulate it by issuing licences”

-Deputy Senate president Ike Ekweremadu calling for the legalization of Prostitution in the country while speaking during a debate on a motion on Human trafficking in Nigeria on Tuesday

Question -

Can your Baby get pregnant if you have sex while pregnant?

Like if you are pregnant with a baby girl and you have sex while you are pregnant, can the sperm go up in there and impregnate the baby?

Best Answer – The baby can get pregnant only if it is a female, if you suspect that your baby is pregnant though, try not to have sex again , because you run the risk of getting your baby’s baby pregnant and this can lead to complications like an infinite loop !!

Did Airtel sack 3000 customer care staff as reported??

According to what is widely reported Telecommunications company Airtel now run by Indians because the company has allegedly sacked over 3000 of their customer care staff for refusing to accept a massive reduction in their salaries.

The Airtel customer care staff were previously being paid 80,000 Naira a month and objected to the reduction of their salaries to 65,000 Naira a month (with no additional incentives).
According to sources Airtel outsourced their customer service to an Indian company which is not willing to compromise on the salary being offered to staff.
Airtel has previously been accused of subjecting staff to difficult working conditions especially since all the top executives were replaced with Indians.

however i saw a comment which i have decided to put forward here perhaps someone will clarify the true position. the last i heard was that NLC Nigeria Labour congress is planning to shut the company down over the allegation, i hope they carry out their findings properly.

"This story is totally incorrect, factually and otherwise.
Airtel, in the first place, doesn’t have as many staff in Nigeria. Secondly, Airtel did not sack a single member of staff. The purported staff, who are claiming that they were sacked, are Call Centre Agents, who are employees of two Agencies, who provide Agents for two partners, Tech Mahindra and Spanco-who provide Airtel Call Centre Services.
Contrary to the report here, which sadly was unchecked/unverified was that the Agents, about 1545 of them were out of contract by Friday, September 30 2011. Tech Mahindra and Spanco have indicated in a joint statement that they would like to hire agents directly on their roll, which will include new Agents and some of the old Agents, who meet their specifications.
So, Airtel did not sack any Agents as they were not Airtel’s employees and Airtel does NOT run Call Centres.
I have also attached the joint statement by Tech Mahindra and Spanco here:
JOINT MEDIA STATEMENT BY TECH MAHINDRA AND SPANCO ON SUSPENSION OF CALL CENTRES

Lagos, Nigeria; Monday, October 03, 2011: We, Tech Mahindra and Spanco, are global Business Process Outsourcing (BPOs) companies and providers of Call Centre services to Airtel Nigeria, operating out of two call centres in Lagos and Abuja, respectively.

Our attention has been drawn to several messages circulating in cyberspace alleging that our client, Airtel had fired 3,000 Call Centre agents due to a disagreement over a purported plan to reduce salaries. This is untrue and we want to use this medium to put the facts right.

Last year, following the signing of a landmark BPO Agreement with the Airtel Group, we jointly inherited over 1,600 Call Centre agents from Bezaleel, HR Indexx and CCSNL who hitherto provided agents for the company known then as Zain. The contract existing between us and two of the agencies namely CCSNL and HR Index expired effective Friday September 30, 2011. The third agency, Bezaleel’s, contract will expire in January 2012. So, there is no issue of mass sack but expiration of existing contracts.

Prior to the expiration of the contracts, we had engaged representatives of the Agents and that of the organized Labour on how to manage their transition to our roll. Due to a lack of consensus on the way forward and an apparent threat to our facilities by some of the agents, we were compelled to suspend operations at the call centres last Friday, September 30, 2011.

Going forward, our plan is to recruit new agents and also offer some of the affected agents a new contract with attendant salaries and benefits based on their qualifications and experience. Our vision is to expand the Call Centre business in Nigeria to 5000 capacity, ultimately.

On the issue of salaries, we state categorically that as world class organizations, we offer our employees remuneration and benefits comparable to standards across the world and in compliance with the working and labour laws of Nigeria.

We, therefore, appeal to all Nigerians, especially Airtel customers, to bear with us as we seek to expeditiously resolve the issues and re-open the call centres in the coming days. Indeed, we have also taken appropriate measures to ensure that our client’s customers experience minimal inconvenience during this brief period.

It is important to note that the activities of these disgruntled Agents are capable of frustrating investors with good intentions and make nonsense of the Federal Government’s drive for Foreign Direct Investment (FDI).

We are committed to growing the BPO industry in Nigeria and by so doing we will give meaning to the quest by the Federal Government of Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan to create jobs as part of his master plan to re-engineer the Nigerian economy.

Green card 2012. American Visa lottery.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE 2013 DIVERSITY IMMIGRANT VISA PROGRAM (DV-2013)
The congressionally mandated Diversity Immigrant Visa Program is administered on an annual basis by the Department
of State and conducted based on United States law, specifically Section 203(c) of the Immigration and Nationality Act
(INA). This law provides for a class of immigrants known as ―diversity immigrants,‖ with visas made available to persons
from countries with historically low rates of immigration to the United States. For fiscal year 2013, 50,000 diversity visas
will be available.
The annual DV program makes visas available to persons meeting simple, but strict, eligibility requirements. A computergenerated, random drawing chooses selectees for DVs. The visas are distributed among six geographic regions, and
within each region, no single country may receive more than seven percent of the available DVs in any one year. Visas
are allocated to nationals of countries with historically lower rates of U.S. immigration. Nationals of countries who have
sent more than 50,000 immigrants to the United States over the past five years are not eligible to apply for the Diversity
Visa program.
For DV-2013, natives of the following countries
1
are not eligible to apply because the countries sent a total of more than
50,000 immigrants to the United States in the previous five years:
BANGLADESH, BRAZIL, CANADA, CHINA (mainland-born), COLOMBIA, DOMINICAN
REPUBLIC, ECUADOR, EL SALVADOR, GUATEMALA, HAITI, INDIA, JAMAICA, MEXICO,
PAKISTAN, PERU, PHILIPPINES, SOUTH KOREA, UNITED KINGDOM (except Northern
Ireland) and its dependent territories, and VIETNAM.
Persons born in Hong Kong SAR, Macau SAR, and Taiwan are eligible.
Changes in eligibility this year:
For DV-2013, natives of South Sudan and Poland are now eligible for selection, while Bangladesh natives are now
ineligible.
The Department of State implemented the electronic registration system beginning with DV-2005 in order to make the DV
process more efficient and secure. The Department utilizes special technology and other means to identify those who
commit fraud for the purposes of illegal immigration or those who submit multiple entries.

DV REGISTRATION PERIOD
Entries for the DV-2013 DV program must be submitted electronically between noon, Eastern Daylight Time (EDT)
(GMT-4), Tuesday, October 4, 2011, and noon, Eastern Daylight Time (EDT) (GMT-4), Saturday, November 5, 2011.
Applicants may access the electronic DV Entry Form (E-DV) at www.dvlottery.state.gov during the registration
period. Paper entries will not be accepted. We strongly encourage applicants not to wait until the last week of the
registration period to enter. Heavy demand may result in website delays. No entries will be accepted after noon,
EDT, on November 5, 2011. Beware of spammers , Registration is FREE Good luck!!

My Heart has no place for a man without courage – Ebube Nwagbo

Oluebube Nwagbo strikes you as the girl next door. She’s one of the most successful and hottest actresses in Nollywood at the moment. Ebube as she’s popularly called by fans has not only paid her dues in the acting profession, she has equally proved her mettle in the world of business.

Ebube Nwagbo

Last year, she launched her own line of hair extensions called, “Posh hair” which is currently doing well in the local market. From Enugu, where she is presently on location, this Anambra State born actress explains why she delved into business. She also speaks about her dreams, aspirations, accomplishments and love life.

You said your were on location when I called your line last Sunday?

Yes, I’m on location in Enugu. We are shooting a new film produced by Get Rich Productions.

The movie is yet to be titled and I’m playing the role of a young girl who has to go into prostitution to save her mother’s life only for her to realise the woman in question is not her mum.

We started shooting the film which is featuring the likes of Sam Dede, Atus from Ghana, Ngozi Ezeonu and many other Nollywood stars three days ago.

Is it your first movie after the long break you took from from acting?

I have done a couple of movies lately. But it’s just that some of them are yet to be released. I have about ten movies in the pipeline. It’s not as if I took a break from acting officially, but somehow, I had to find time to do other things. Perhaps to re-establish myself in the industry.

I know that I’m not going to be an actress forever. That’s why I decided to establish something I could fall back on in future because you never can predict tomorrow.

Could that be the reason for the setting up of your own line of hair extensions?

Yes, of course. My own line of hair extensions is called ‘Posh Hair.’ I also established a company which I run with my friend. We are into contract business. My hair product is doing very well in the market.

In fact, I’m surprised at the way people accepted the product. It’s quite encouraging and I’m happy it is making waves in the market.

How did you get into the business?

Before now, I was looking for something else to do apart from acting. I tried my hands on so many things before a friend of mine finally sold the idea of setting up a hair product to me.

After giving it a thought, I decided to embrace the idea. Fortunately, my friend has all the contacts I needed to make the dream a reality.

I travelled abroad with her to make all the necessary contacts before jumpstarting the business. On returning to the country, I did my own home work, meet with the people, I needed to meet with, and thereafter start off the business.

It must have cost you quite a fortune to set up the business?

Yes, and I’m thankful to God today who made it possible for me to actualise this vision.

Do you see your achievement as a big challenge to some of your colleagues who are not thinking of having second profession?

ebube

Nothing lasts forever. While we are in this business of acting, there is need for us to work hard and find something to compliment our career in acting. I have worked so hard to become what I am today.

Most of my colleagues I think are not sleeping either. They are also thinking in that direction of what they will be doing after they are through with acting. It’s important we begin to prepare for our retirement.

You also delved into gospel music. Was it another part of you that has not been explored properly?

The music aspect of me is inside the cooler for now. I might go back to it in future. I tried my hands on music and to my surprise, it worked out . Somebody wrote the songs for me and I was surprised that the music did so well in the market.

A lot of people were equally surprised that the music was a hit. I never imagined that it would be successful in the market. So yes, when I’m done with acting, I may decide to go back to music.

Some of your colleagues have described their involvement in the acting profession as accidental. Would you say you got into acting by accident?

I wouldn’t say I have always wanted to act or that I started acting from childhood. No, I have never had a passion for acting. While in school, I was a shy person.

It never beat my imagination that I could make a career in acting. It all started while I was undergoing my compulsory one year industrial training after the completion of my Ordinary National Diploma programme. I was looking for something to engage myself in as a pastime. This is because I needed money to go back to school after my industrial training.

Then, I didn’t want to work in a company. I had a friend I used to know way back in school, who was in the industry. I quickly contacted him and before I knew it, I was already in the industry.

My first movie is titled “Arrested By Love” where I acted alongside Jim Iyke, Pete Edochie and others . Acting came as an opportunity for me to get what I wanted and at the same time , achieve my dream. And in the process, I got stock.

What has been the reaction of some of your course mates who never believed you could make it in acting?

Well, some of my course mates expected to see the same old Ebube they used to know way back in school. But others are surprised that I’m doing what I’m doing today.

While I was in school, I wasn’t the bad girl type, given the strict background that I hail from. They never believed I was going to end up as an actress.

You shuttled between Lagos and Enugu. Where exactly are you based?

I’m based in Lagos, but most times when I have a job to do in the East, I travel to the place.

Being a shy person, would you say Nollywood unveiled you?

Given what I’m doing today, I’m no longer that shy girl I used to be in the past. I now see myself as an instrument to better my country and humanity. Yes, delving into acting has really changed me and I’m happy doing what I am doing today. The industry has exposed me and I have really overcome my shyness.

Also, while sojourning in the industry, I have learned a lot and I’m proud to be part of this new trend. I didn’t start acting from childhood rather, I grew to find myself in the acting profession.

Could there be anything that will make you to feel sober each time you reflect on it?

I’m an emotional person. I don’t like to be hurt or be taken for granted by people. I hate being ridiculed. I also like to earn my respect from people. I have learnt to see things the way they are.

I have also learnt to speak up my mind and stand for my right . I hate people cheating on me. Moreover, I like to respect people and I also like people to respect me. That’s me.

After your alleged affair with K.C Fresh and your purported fight with Anita Joseph over the musician, nothing much has been heard about your relationship with the opposite sex?

I have chosen not to speak about that. I don’t dwell on my past. Anything that happened in the past remains in the past. It’s my private life and I don’t like to talk about it with anybody. I never had a fight with anybody over a man and I will never do such a thing. I’m too big for that.

When are we expecting the bell to ring for you?

At the right time, I will let you know. I’m too busy making money at the moment.

Don’t you think a time will come when men will be scared of you ?

Any man who do not have the courage to come for me because of who I am, is not worthy to become my man. There is no amount of wealth a woman will acquire that will make her not to be submissive to her husband. The Lord has said it that a woman should be submissive to her husband no matter the height she attains in the society.

I am who I am, I’m no other person than the same Ebube. Like I said earlier, a man that cannot walk up to me and express his love to me, is not worthy enough to be my man. I’m old enough to know when a man takes the first step.

I don’t allow whatever I have achieved over the years to get into my head. It doesn’t change who I am. People who know me very well can testify to my simple nature.

And this is not even when you are painting the town red with a hummer jeep?

I’m not the only actress who is driving a jeep. There are so many of us out there who are painting the town red with their expensive cars. Yes, sometimes people do wonder why a young lady like myself should be driving a hummer jeep.

Others still acknowledge the fact that I have a taste for quality things. But for me, I know what I wanted out of life, and also what I think will make me feel happy. If driving a hummer will make me a happy person, I’d be ready to drive it over and over again.

Looking back, do you have any cause to regret the steps you have taken in life?

I have no regrets whatsoever . I will forever be thankful to God who made it possible for me to become what I am today. Like I said earlier, nothing lasts forever. While we are still sojourning in the industry, there is need for us to make use of every opportunity that comes our way.

Are you looking forward to becoming one of the Glo Ambassadors?

I’m hopeful, but I’m not dwelling on it. If it comes, all well and good. And if it doesn’t , other things will come my way.

Nigeria is 51 years today, what’s your message to the nation?

First and foremost, I’m proud to be a Nigerian. In as much as we have our challenges, the good, the bad and the ugly, I don’t have any regret being a Nigerian. My prayer is that our leaders should strive to give the people a purposeful leadership . It is also my prayer that my industry, Nollywood overcomes the economic challenges that has undermined its growth in recent times.
