Mallam Mobolaji Abdullahi the Minister of youth development said yesterday (Thursday) that one of the suspects in the controversial rape video that has been in circulation in the country has been identified. though the Female (victim) in the video is yet to be identified.

The Evedence available on the internet says five men raped the lady , recorded the act and somehow the recording got viral and was eventually uploaded to the internet.

The incident is widely believed to have occurred in Abia state has been very controversial.

The Minister further stated that they may not be able to convict the suspect for rape based on the video evidence .

he further stated that

“More than 70 per cent of the information we have on the rape will not be said here for obvious security reasons. But I can tell you we have information on it.

“Some legal experts have told us that it may be difficult to convict the rapists because the video does not reveal the face of the victims.“The girl is not a student of Abia State University. She was raped in an off-campus residential area of students.“One of them (suspects) has been identified conclusively.”Although the faces of the rapists are not seen in the video, the minister said the National Human Rights Commission was on top of the situation.“The National Human Rights Commission is working with the Ministry of Youth Development. The commission, which is headed by a competent lawyer, is on top of this case.“This is law, if we can not press for rape, there are other charges that we can press. I can assure you that justice will be done

Personally i am not satisfied by the statements made by the minister perhaps he is just trying to play a little politics with our minds. the next step is to try and get the Lady identified in person, her presence is vital to the commencement of criminal charges against the suspects.

TINUBU- standing trial or" sitting trial" ?

It is now a notorious fact that the Former governor of Lagos state has been dragged before the code of conduct tribunal ,CCT sitting in Abuja on three count charge that he operated 10 foreign accounts while in office between 1999 and 2007.

A mild drama ensued at the tribunal yesterday while the trial was on , while the prosecution counsel and defence counsel were busy having their verbal warfare on some preliminary issues Tinubu remained comfortably seated at the gallery, a situation that prompted the prosecution Lawyer to insist that he should mount the dock

“Before we proceed Sir, I wish to make an observation. This is a criminal matter, and by the rules of this court once an accused is before the tribunal, a chair is placed for him at the dock to sit and listen to the proceedings.”

The lead defence lawyer Wole Olanipekun SAN immediately sprung to his feet to argue agaonst the prosecution counsels's submission but before he could do this Tinubu voluntarily took his sit at the dock? even then one still wonders is Tinubu standing trial or sitting trial ? Many believed nothing will come out of this trial meaning they have no confidence in the process, or are Nigerians are just psychologically defeated ?!

The Governors of Osun state and Oyo state Rauf Aregbesola and Abiola Ajimobi both members of the (ACN) Action Congress were both at the Venue and expressed the opinion that the whole process was nothing but a Political warfare masterminded by the ruling party peoples Democratic party PDP. Tinubu himself was quoted to have said the process is just an attempt politically witch hunt him.

This has been the excuse present and past political office holders always put forward when indicted for any offence. The most important question that should always be asked is that Is the accused person guilty of the offence? Is he guilty as charged? Tinubu himself was quoted to have said

"they said i operated foreign accounts,they are yet to provide evidence i used state funds in operating foreign accounts"

The Ex Governor seems to have forgotten that the charge was not that of whether he used state fund to operate the foreign account or not, but the existence of the foreign accounts itself while he was in office is the crime he was being docked for. The issue of Political undertone to any trial should only be raised when the person being tried has been cleared of all charges !! is Tinubu's hands clean ? And i hope something positive will come out of this trial and that Tinubu is actually standing trials and not " sitting trial" in other words lets hope this will be a serious trial and justice will be seen to be done by the ordinary Nigerians.

Medical negligence- Two Doctors suspended

The death of one Mrs. Chinwedu Ukwuoma during child birth has been linked to gross medical negligence on the part of the doctor who attended to her.this has led to the suspension of two doctors by the Medical and dental Disciplinary Tribunal.

The Chairman of The council, said the duo, Dr Christian Ogbookiri ,a registered medical practitioner and senior registrar in obstetrics and gynacology and Dr J.E.N Okonkwo , a consultant obstetrician/gynaecologist and proprietor of Jeno Hospital, Enugu ,should be suspended for six months and three months respectively

The charge read by the council chairman states that Dr J.E.N Okonwo was negligent in the management of one Mrs. Chinwedu Ukwuoma who was a patient in the said hospital on diverse days between October 17 and October 19, 2003.

It also accused Okonkwo for failure to adequately record properly all his findings during the patient’s ante-natal visits, neither did he follow up the patient adequately during such ante-natal visits up to the time of her admission for delivery on October 18, 2003.

The pertinent question here is whether the punishment given for the act of the doctors is sufficient enough ?

In the Civilized world, those responsible for enforcing traffic laws obey the laws themselves, but in Nigeria , it is not uncommon to see Police officers and Vehicle inspection officers drive without the use of seat belt. do they believe they are above the law? what is our government doing about every little things wrong with the Nigerian society? The Road Safety Corps members do not violate the seat belt rules but must as a matter of fact be able to enforce this rules against everybody no matter who.

meanwhile,Vehicle inspection officers are giving motorists a nightmare in Abuja F.C.T clamping down on them in the guise of checking vehicle particulars.The clampdown, which started unannounced on Monday, motorists whose vehicle particulars have expired.

Meanwhile, at the various VIO offices in the city, a different problem confront motorists-new papers are not ready yet!!

Why arrest motorists when there are no papers to replace the expired ones, anyway the men and women wearing white on black look the other way, without providing any answer.

A resident, Mr Mathew Ogala shared his experience.

His car particulars expired on August 31 2011, He went to three separate offices of the V.I.O in the city to renew them but he was told that new particulars had not arrived.

“Last week, I did another failed trip to the offices, as I was told the same story” he said.

However, on driving through the city this week, Ogala narrated how he was harassed by overzealous Officers on the excuse that his documents had expired.

Assisted by some equally overzealous police men the V.I.O flood major road intersections in the city all week “checking” motorists

The development has created another challenge for road users causing traffic jams, leading to loss of man hours.

Meanwhile, have you ever wondered why the vehicle inspection officers do not use seat belts , thereby violating traffic laws themselves ?? its a National shame!!

Tragically Andy passed away from non-Hodgkin's lymphoma on Sunday at just 39-years-old; 18 months after his Cancer diagnosis.

CPC- The leader should resign as the center of the cake is being blown apart bit by bit and no one seems to know how we can MEND the cake.
