41st Chess Olympiads, ROUND SEVEN PAIRINGS FOR NIGERIA



In the ongoing World Chess Olympiads, Nigerian male team has been paired against  Malaysia while the Female team will be facing Ethiopia. The Male team's rank after 6 rounds and with five rounds to go is 103 out of 150 teams as against their starting rank of 107, it is hoped that the Nigeria team who seems to have regained its firing power by beating Guyana by three points to one in round six and after the break will finish the last five games of the competition with more wins , if possible a winning streak.  NIGERIA Vs MALAYSIA (Male) , NIGERIA Vs ETHIOPIA (Female)

The Malysian team are a strong side, The team defeated team Kenya by 2.5-1.5, the team lost to South Africa  3.5-0.5,and defeated Namibia 3.5-0.5 in round five summing up their performance against African opposition one can deduce that the Nigerian male team on a good day should be able to take the match point from this Malaysian side . Players to watch out for on the Malaysian side includes  IM Lim yee-Weng rated ELO 2311 and Teh Eu Wen Aron rated 2309 who was able to secure an impressive Draw against  GM Anton Guijarro, David (2624) of  Spain.  The match (Nigeria vs Malaysia ) is going to be a tough match as from current tournament form , the two teams are evenly matched and the victory will go to the team more hungry for glory.
Female category
The Nigerian  female chess team which lost narrowly and painfully to Uruguay in their round six match will be looking forward to redeeming their image against the ladies of Ethiopia in this round by a convincing win.
