FINAL STANDING !! African Chess Zone 4.2 Championship

    The African Zonal Championship (Zone 4.2) was concluded today ! It ended on a very fine note for Nigeria as the Highest rated chess player in Nigeria and reigning National Champion, International Master Bunmi Olape popularly known as the undertaker, completely buried the Highest rated player of the tournament IM Sameh Sadek (ELO 2378) to win the tournament with 7.5 points out of a possible 9 , IM Bunmi Olape was unbeaten through out with 6 wins   and 3 drawn games !! The win means he qualifies to play at the African Championship  and eventually at the Chess world cup!
   The Duo of  BISIRIYU OLUWASEUN and FM KIGIGHA BOMO Both from Nigeria  finished with 6 points, The Fast rising Ugandan FIDE master ELIJAH EMOJONG defeated International master ADU OLADAPO in the Final round of the tournament to also finish on 6 points after an impressive Draw result against  IM Sameh Sadek of Egypt in round 6 and defeating FM Bomo Kigigha of Nigeria in round 7 to put himself in joint second position living up to expectation as analyzed before the start of the event .The Result meant  FM Kigigha Bomo(Nigeria),  Bisiriyu Oluwaseun(Nigeria) and  FM Emojong Elijah (Uganda) has satisfied the 66.6 % minimum requirement for the award of the International master title according to the regulation of the tournament.


1st: BUNMI OLAPE 7.5 points, 2nd-4th: BISIRIYU OLUWASEUN, BOMO KIGIGHA, ELIJAH EMOJONG, 6points; 5th-6th: ADU OLADAPO ,SAMEH SADEK 5 points; 7th: ONOVUGHE OCHUKO 4.5 points; 8th: MADUAGWANA EMMANUEL  3.5 points; 9th: ELNASRI MOHAMMED 1 point; 10th: BONSU KWANDO 0.5 point.

Meanwhile in the Ladies Category  , Shrook Wafa Of Egypt won the Event with a total of 6 points losing only one game to Nigeria's All African Games Gold Medalist Olatunji Oluwatobi  Who tied for second place on 5 points with Namaganda Christine of Uganda. The current Nigerian Female National Champion Asanga Nsisong  could only manage a 4.5 points finish after two disappointing losses to worthy opponents.
